On 23 October 2019, the European Parliament made a very important decision. To support the movement of beekeeping and environmental organizations against the proposal of the European Commission aimed at reducing the standards of bee protection. for history's sake, on 21 October 2019, the European Parliament's Committee on the environment, public health and food safety (ENVI) rejected The Commission's ruling by 62 votes to 4, with 7 abstentions. Finally, on 23 October 2019, the entire European Parliament approved the objection by 533 votes to 67, with 100 abstentions. The European Parliament by this decision confirms the desire to achieve higher standards of protection for bees, other pollinators, and the environment. The European Parliament has finally agreed that we need stricter protections for bees and pollinators, and this is a big victory for the US, for APIMONDIA, for all the NGOs involved.
More on this in the upcoming APIMONDIA newsletter.
